On August 1, 2019, Solarize Middle Georgia completed its campaign to expand access to affordable small-scale solar energy systems throughout the region. The campaign is proud to announce that Solarize Middle Georgia met its goal of Tier 6 residential pricing ($2.75/watt), the lowest available price on solar energy in Middle Georgia! Throughout the campaign, 295 residents and businesses received free solar assessments of their properties to determine if the installation of a solar energy system would be financially feasible for them. In total, 323 kW of solar energy capacity was installed throughout the region under this effort. Customers also purchased a total battery storage capacity of 96.40 kWh under this initiative. Collectively, the installation of these new solar energy systems leads to an annual avoidance of 606,000 lbs. of CO2 emissions, significantly improving air quality in Middle Georgia.
